Electramino is an electrolyte and amino acid supplement supplied as a paste in a 60 gm oral tube.
Electrolytes are the salts and minerals - sodium, potassium, chloride and others - that an animal's body needs in balance for muscles and nerves to work and for fluid to stay where it should. Heavy sweating, scour (diarrhoea), fever or simply not drinking all pull them out of balance, and an animal low on electrolytes goes flat, weak and off its feed before anything else shows.
Because of the obvious problem with powder: it only works if the animal drinks. The animal that most needs electrolytes is very often the one that has stopped drinking - that is half of why it is in trouble.
A paste goes in over the back of the tongue from the tube, and it goes in whether or not the animal is interested. That single difference is why a tube lives in a travel box and a tub of powder lives in the feed room.

After a hot haul or a long day. Travel, a show, a work day or heat all cost fluid and salts.

A supplement, not a treatment. An animal that is genuinely dehydrated - skin that stays tented when you pinch it, sunken eyes, gums that are dry or tacky - needs a veterinarian and probably fluids under the skin or into a vein, not a tube of paste. Know the difference before you rely on it.
