OvaMed (altrenogest) Solution 0.22% produces a progestational effect in mares.
Possible Side Effects
Adverse reactions are uncommon at the recommended doses. This medication may cause mild changes in blood levels of calcium, potassium and liver enzymes. It may exacerbate uterine infections in mares with pre-existing uterine inflammation. All medication has the potential to cause an immediate allergic or anaphylactic reaction. Affected animals may have a swelling, hives, changes in respiration, and display signs of agitation. This can be a severe and life threatening reaction, immediate veterinary care may be required. Notify your veterinarian immediately if your horse experiences any adverse reactions to this medication

OvaMed is readily absorbed by the skin. Skin contact must be avoided; protective gloves must be worn when handling this product.
