Washable, reusable Lennypad in the 18" x 24" medium. Absorbs and holds rather than spreading, machine washes, and goes back in the box. Replaces disposables that a bitch shreds within the hour.
A Lennypad is a washable absorbent pad that goes in the whelping box, the crate or the puppy pen and gets washed rather than thrown away.
The case for washable in a kennel is arithmetic. A whelping box goes through disposables at a rate that adds up fast across a season, and a bitch in the box will shred a paper pad and leave you picking fluff out of bedding with newborn puppies in it. A Lennypad goes in the machine and comes back.
The absorbent layer pulls moisture down and holds it, so the surface stays drier against a puppy than a soaked paper pad does. For neonates that cannot regulate their own temperature, lying on something wet is not a comfort problem, it is a chill problem.
The medium at 18" x 24" suits a crate, a puppy pen section or a smaller whelping box. Larger sizes suit a full whelping box and the pen a litter graduates into.
Heat for the box, and something disposable for the first day or two of whelping itself when you want to lift the mess out and be done with it.
