Description

Zoo Med Eco Earth Compressed Coconut Fiber Expandable Reptile Substrate is a compressed coconut fiber made from the husks of coconuts. It’s an eco-friendly, renewable resource that can be safely composted or recycled into potted plants and gardens. This substrate is ideal for a naturalistic terrarium setups and great for all types of reptiles, amphibians, small animals or insects. Use it damp to increase humidity in an enclosure for tropical species. Each Eco Earth brick makes 7-8 liters of substrate.

Key Benefits
  • The ideal substrate for naturalistic terrarium type set-ups incorporating reptiles, amphibians, or invertebrates.
  • Use it damp for tropical species as it naturally absorbs and breaks down odor and waste products.
  • Can be used dry for desert species or mixed with organic fertilizer for the perfect Vivaria soil.
  • Made from an eco-friendly renewable resource, it can also be safely composted or recycled.
  • Available in loose and compressed brick.

Instructions

  • Place brick in pail/bucket or sink.
  • Add four quarts of water.
  • Allow brick to expand for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Wring out excess moisture.

For small animals, snakes, and tarantulas, use dry by laying out moist substrate in the sun to dry before moving to your animal's enclosure.

Maintenance: Mist your Eco Earth daily to achieve the desired humidity level in your enclosure. Check your humidity gauge to confirm that you have the correct humidity levels for the species you are keeping. It helps to partially cover the top of your terrarium glass to increase humidity levels.

Cleaning: Spot clean as needed. If a foul odor persists, then remove all Eco Earth and replace. Changing all of your Eco Earth depends on the smell and number/size of animals in your enclosure but a 100% change is recommended at least every six months.
