Dermatonin is a constant-release melatonin implant for dogs that is indicated for the treatment of Alopecia X and seasonal flank alopecia. The implant form eliminates the need for twice-daily dosing and provides a consistent level of melatonin for maximum effectiveness. Implants are packaged in a gas-sterilized, pre-loaded, disposable, implanting device that uses a 12-gauge needle to administer the product subcutaneously, similar to microchips. Each implant consistently administers melatonin for approximately 4 to 6 months. Shelf life is 2 years and refrigeration not required, but the product must be keep out of direct UV light.

Instructions for Loading and Injection Implant 
Step 2. Have assistant hold the dog and clean injection site with an alcohol swab. Angle the device parallel to the skin plane. 
Step 3. Pick up fold of loose skin over shoulders, and insert needle into loose subcutaneous tissue under skin. Must avoid deeper muscle layers. Step 4. Inject Implant full distance of needle by depressing device rod fully. Step 5. Remove needle slowly. Step 6. Sterilize and clean with alcohol the needle and area before each use. |
