Mometamax Otic Suspension is a topical prescription medication used to treat canine ear infections caused by yeast and bacteria. Mometamax is a once-a-day treatment that's easy to administer—simply apply directly into the infected ear canal to help reduce inflammation in your pup's ears.
Uses
Mometamax Otic Suspension is indicated for the treatment of ear infection in pets caused by susceptible strains of yeast and bacteria.
Possible Side Effects
Please contact your veterinarian if the following adverse reactions occur: hearing loss or balance problems, increased drinking and urination, weight gain, diarrhea, and vomiting.
Drug & Food Interactions
If hypersensitivity to any of the components occurs, treatment should be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted. Associated use of drugs known to induce ear toxicity should be avoided. Do not use in pets with known perforation of eardrums.
Precautions
Before instilling any medication into the ear, examine the external ear canal thoroughly to be certain the outer and middle ear is not ruptured in order to avoid the possibility of transmitting infection, as well as damaging the inner ear from prolonged contact. Administration of recommended doses beyond seven days may result in delayed wound healing. If overgrowth of non-susceptible bacteria or fungi occurs, treatment should be discontinued, and appropriate therapy instituted. Avoid ingestion. Pets should be closely observed for sodium retention, potassium loss, fluid retention, weight gain, excessive thirst, and/or excessive dilute urine. Prolonged use or over-dosage may produce adverse effects.
