Indications: This product has been shown to be effective for the vaccination of healthy horses 3 months of age or older, including pregnant mares after the 2nd month of pregnancy, against respiratory disease due to equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1). The duration of immunity has not been determined. For more information regarding efficacy and safety data go to productdata.aphis.usda.gov.

Directions and dosage: Aseptically rehydrate the vaccine with the sterile diluent provided. Shake well and administer one 1 mL dose intramuscularly. Healthy horses should receive 2 doses administered 3 to 4 weeks apart. The presence of maternal antibody is known to interfere with the development of active immunity in horses and additional boosters will be required in most young animals. Historically, revaccination every 3 months with this product has been recommended. The need for booster vaccination has not been established for this product. For advice on revaccination frequency, consult your veterinarian or the manufacturer.

Precautions: Store out of direct sunlight at 35-46°F (2-8°C). Do not freeze. Sterilized syringes and needles should be used for administration. Do not sterilize with chemicals because traces of disinfectant may inactivate the vaccine. Do not mix with other products, except as specified on the label. Use entire contents when first opened. Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter. In case of anaphylactoid reaction, administer epinephrine. In case of human exposure, contact a physician. Inactivate unused contents before disposal.

This product has been shown to be efficacious in healthy animals. A protective immune response may not be elicited if animals are incubating an infectious disease, are malnourished or parasitized, are stressed due to shipment or environmental conditions, are otherwise immunocompromised, or the vaccine is not administered in accordance with label directions.

Preservative: Gentamicin.
